Meet Jenny Ballesteros

Jenny is the proud daughter of immigrants from Jalisco, Mexico. She was born and raised in Monterey County. Growing up, she witnessed the struggles her parents faced being undocumented in the United States. This motivated her to become an immigration attorney to help others in her community facing similar hardships.

Jenny received her Juris Doctor from U.C. Davis School of Law in 2023. During her time at the U.C. Davis School of Law, she participated in the Immigration Law Clinic, where she received the “Outstanding Clinic Student Award.” She also interned for Kids in Need of Defense and the ACLU of Northern California.

After law school, she was determined to return to her community on the Central Coast. She was selected to be an Equal Justice Works Fellow and worked at the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. Her project focused on helping people adjust status under INA 245(i) and on analyzing criminal records. She became Senior Staff Attorney, where she supervised and worked on a variety of cases.

Jenny has been working with the immigrant community in different roles for about nine years. Her goal is to continue serving her community in this new capacity. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She is passionate about providing immigration legal services and takes pride in her work. In her free time, Jenny likes spending time with her family and being outdoors on the beautiful Central Coast.
